A Poem for my Thatha and Paati (Grandma)
Thatha, do not go gentle into the good night.
Body, the outer garment may wear down with age
The soul is eternal, unaffected by time
It ever keeps its eye on the light, not night.
Thatha, do not go gentle into the good night
Just hold on tight
Hold on tight, His feet cradled in your hands
He decides what time is right.
Thatha, do not go gentle into the good night
Let the medical field try, alright.
If... the appointed time should draw near.
Embrace Him as a precious dear.
Thatha, focus all thought only on Him
Sai said, “Why fear when I am here?”
He holds your hand all the way.
Let Him decide if and when you need a scene change.
Let Him decide if and when you need a scene change.
Paati, shake the melancholy aside
He is your mother, father and BFF.
You are never ever alone.
Amazing Grace in the Mother’s embrace.
Paati, walk in stride with head held up high
Duality is fundamental ecstasy
If the curtain should fall, it rises to a new act
.. new beginnings, new tasks for the soul
Paati, let Him decide ...what, when, if.
He holds you in the palm of His hand
He holds Thatha body and soul too.
He will take care of both of you.
There is no night, only light.
